Teare (3:50.39), Hocker (3:50.55), Hunter (3:53.49) Go 1-2-3 In Tyson Invitational Mile By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor The good vibes for the Oregon Ducks at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. continued Friday at the Tyson Invitational. Oregon's Cooper Teare (3:50.39) and Cole Hocker (3:50.55) both smashed former Duck Edward Cheserek's collegiate record and ran astonishing times, while Australian teammate Charlie Hunter lowered his own national record and took third in 3:53.49. To put another spin on it, Hunter was named to the Bowerman Award Watchlist this week, largely for his NCAA-leading mile time of 3:54.54 two weeks ago. Today he ran faster and finished behind two teammates while dropping to No. 6 in collegiate history. Cheserek's record was 3:52.01. Teare and Hocker ascended to the Nos. 3 and 4 all-time American indoor performers, trailing only Bernard Lagat (3:49.89) and Johnny Gregorek (3:49.98). They are are also Nos. 7 and 8 all-time in the world. And Hocker, at 19, is the fastest teen-aged miler indoors, ever. The Tyson Invitational continues Saturday.
