Vlad Malykhin, a sophomore at Harding University in Arkansas representing Ukraine, cleared an indoor personal-best 18-5.25 (5.62m) on his third attempt to place second behind Kansas' Clayton Simms, who achieved the height on his second opportunity in the men's invitational pole vault at the Tyson Invitational at Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville. Malykhin improved on his No. 2 all-time mark among NCAA Division 2 indoor competitors.
